Frequently Asked Questions

What does a neurodiversity family coach actually do?

A neurodiversity family coach supports families and individuals in understanding how their unique brains work and in creating systems, routines, and communication strategies that honor those differences. My work focuses on helping families reduce stress, improve relationships, and build confidence by identifying personalized strengths and needs. I don’t “fix” behaviors—I help you understand them, respond with clarity, and create practical tools that work for your family.

How is coaching different from therapy?

Therapy often focuses on processing past experiences or diagnosing emotional and behavioral patterns. Coaching, on the other hand, is forward-focused. I help you build skills, strategies, and structures that support daily life—things like communication routines, executive-function tools, mindset shifts, and individualized problem-solving. While therapy addresses the “why,” coaching focuses on the “what now” and “how can we make this work better at home and school?”

What tools or methods do you use in your sessions?

Because there is no one-size-fits-all solution, I use a blend of methods tailored to each client:

  • Journaling prompts to deepen self-awareness

  • Guided questioning to uncover patterns and find root causes

  • Executive-function strategies for organization, time management, and task initiation

  • Parent coaching frameworks for communication and collaboration

Strength-based approaches to shift the focus from deficits to capabilities
Each plan is created collaboratively so it feels supportive, doable, and aligned with your real life—not an idealized version of it.

Who do you work with—parents, teens, or whole families?

All of the above. I support:

  • Parents navigating how to help their neurodivergent child thrive

  • College students, teens and preteens who want practical tools for school, friendships, and self-regulation

Families looking to improve communication, reduce conflict, or build supportive routines
My coaching meets each person where they are developmentally and emotionally. Every family configuration is welcome.

What can we expect after working with you?

Clients typically walk away with:

  • A clearer understanding of how their child—or they themselves—think, feel, and learn

  • A toolbox of personalized strategies for daily challenges

  • Reduced overwhelm and improved communication

  • More confidence in navigating school, home routines, and emotional moments

A sense of relief that they don’t have to “figure it out alone” anymore
Progress often unfolds gradually, but families usually notice meaningful shifts early on as they begin applying targeted, neuro-affirming strategies.
